we traveled quite a way to get to the oaks and was pleasantly surprised with the look of the outside and the inside did not dissapoint. there was 8 of us stayed 3 couples were pleased with there rooms but 1 couple was not so the staff moved them without any fuss. The spa was loverly we all had time to relax before we went out.

    Fabulous

The hotel had a nice ambience and some impressive features. The room was comfortable and quiet. My wife particularly liked the Lavender spray for the pillows which did contribute to a good nights slweep.

There are a lot of stairs to negotiate yo get to the room.

    Exceptional

We loved the room. The bed was a four poster bed and we had a warm and very comfortable heater in the room. The food and service was excellent, the staircase and stained glass windows were stunning and everywhere we wanted to go for shopping etc was very close. More people should be enjoying this beautiful hotel.

We loved everything. There was nothing the staff wouldn't do for us as far as service and directions to different venues.

    Good

The room was great and well equipped and decorated nicely but got very cold at night ad the bed wasn't very big at all. It wasn't a full double.

The main restaurants food at night was extremely fancy and didn't have any less fancy options. The area around the hotel was ok for a night away but not for sigjtseeing. The hotel staff were very robotic when speaking to you and some were even rude. I paid £90 for one night and was disappointed with overall service.

    Fabulous

The 2 Bichards and the 2 Drakes had a wonderful time. We stayed for 8 days and this seemed to be rather exceptional as most of the other guests appeared to to be staying for one or two nights, or for some special occasion. We booked the "Oaks" through the net and we have never stayed with you before. It turned out to be an excellent choice and we would have no hesitation in coming again or in recommending th "Oaks" to anyone else. It was a pleasure to have breakfast served in a civilised way with proper waitresses and a proper menu. So many places these days are "do it yourself" for breakfast. On a rather flippant note, after a huge breakfast it was very satisfying to "Walk it all off" on uour daily trudge to our rooms and back! And also a good laugh. You coukd easily market your literature as the "Gateway to the Dales" Thank you all, and especially the young ladies on Reception (for whom anything we wanted was never too much trouble) for contributing to our holiday. And it never rained!!!

Good value for money, comfortable spacious rooms, and friendly staff

    Superb

The spa facilities were very good. Decent sized pool, sauna, steam room and 2 jacuzzis. Hotel staff were friendly and bar area comfortable.

Maid service. We did not leave our room until around midday and subsequently the room was not serviced although I am not sure whether this was down to a mis understanding in communications. We did not however complain about this service as we did not return to the hotel in the evening until after 11.00 pm and it didn't seem such a big issue the following morning.

    Good

Staff were pleasant but a little disorganised at breakfast. Very nicely cooked breakfast. Attractive building set in well kept grounds.

The worst view I have ever had out of a hotel bedroom window!! We looked srraigt out on to a brick wall. There was a leaky guttering outside the window, and as it was very wet, the noise of the water pourning down on to paving was so loud that we had to keep the window shut which made the room very warm and stuffy. The bathroom could have done with a thorough clean, although the wash hand basin and bath apeared clean, they were quite grubby around taps, soap dish and shower screen.

Lady on duty at the leisure centre was most helpful on the Sunday morning she noticed that I had a stick and was kind enough ask if I needed help also turned off the spa so I could see the depth. Room was nice, although when I booked I asked for a garden view and ended up at the rear of the hotel, under fire escape by waste bins. Easy to find and easy to use local transport.

The breakfast service was disgraceful, shown to an uncleared table 4 different waitress took our order each forgetting something eg toast then had to ask for butter, pot of tea no milk or tea spoon, served other people on three occasions, may I suggest that the tables are numbered and a waitress allocated to them, one morning breakfast took over an hour!!!!

    Very good

One of the night porters on duty during our stay was very good at hosting the late night bar and added to the enjoyment of our stay.

The Oaks is impressive in design but has a very quirky layout. There was a rabbit warren of staircases and corridors leading to our room. This came as a shock to a friend recovering from an operation who was also staying there.
